Apple Chocolate cake

Another excellent cake for any time of the year

Try out this recipe for an excellent dessert for any time in the year. You can always find apples and chocolate.

  • 185 gr butter
  • 150 gr sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 220 gr flour
  • 1 package (8gr) baking powder
  • 3 spoons cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 300 gr apples
  • 50 gr dark chocolate

  1. Melt the butter and whisk it together with the sugar and eggs.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and cinnamon.
  3. Chop the apples and chocolate into fine pieces, but leave some apple slices (without the skin) for the top of the cake (see Image 2).
  4. Little-by-little, add the ingredients from step 2 and 3 to the liquid mixture from step 1 while you keep mixing. You should get a moist, firm, dark dough (see Image 1).
  5. Use a spatula to transfer the dough into a suitable shape for baking, add the left-over apple slices on top (Image 2).
  6. Bake for 45 minutes at 180 degrees. You can check if the cake is ready by poking a wooden stock or a knife into the cake - when the dough doesn’t stick it anymore, it’s done!

  • After baking you should let the cake cool down for at least an hour. But feel free to enjoy it also while it’s still warm. The cake can also be served with some whipped cream on the side.
