A pastry style apple pie
This pie requires only few ingredients and not much time. It is perfect for an afternoon snack or a dessert.
Ingredients for 20 cm diameter base
- 215 gr of wholemeal flour
- 5 gr salt
- 2 table spoon of seed oil
- 100 ml water
Ingredients for the topping
- 2 big apples
- 200 gr apricot/peach marmalade
- 3 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 table spoon brown sugar
Process:
- Start by preparing the dough. First pour in a bowl the flour and mix it with the salt. You can use a fork for this step. Image 1, 2
- Once you stir few times, make a hole in the middle and pour a bit of water at the time, 1 table spoon of oil and mix with the fork. Continue with this process until you added to the mixture 100ml of water and 2 table spoons of oil. Image 3, 4
- When the liquids are socked by the flour, knead the dough with your hands. Continue until the dough is smooth and form a ball. Let it rest 30 min. Wrap it in plastic foil and cover it with a kitchen towel. Image 5, 6
- In the meantime you can wash the apples and cut them in slices.
- When the time is up, spread the dough first with the help of a rolling pin and then place it in a round baking shape. For this step you can use your hands to fit the dough in the shape so that it covers base and edge of the shape. I used a non-stick baking shape. Image 7
- Spread the marmalade on the dough. Image 8, 9
- Start placing the apple in a round pattern. Continue until the base is fully covered with apple slices. You can create your own pattern. Image 10
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Image 11
- Bake for 20 min at 180°C.
- Let it rest and serve with some icing sugar on top or vanilla sauce. Image 12
