Savoury and sweet croissants

What about those tasty French croissants? Here is a recipe for baking them at home also in both a savoury and sweet version. It will not take too much of your time and you will end up with some tasty croissant for breakfast or for a quick snack.


Ingredients:

  • 1 roll of pastry dough
  • 3 slices of ham
  • 3 slices of cheese
  • 3 tablespoons Nutella
  • 1 egg

Process:

  1. Start by rolling out the pastry dough in a baking tray. If you cannot find the pastry dough specific for the croissants, you can use normal pastry dough (the one that can be used for cooking savoury pies).
  2. Divide the tough in 6 triangles.
  3. Position one slice of ham and one slice of cheese at the base of 3 triangles. Add a spoon of nutella or marmalade on the bottom part (base) of the remaining triangles.
  4. Now starting from the base of the triangles, roll them towards the upper part of the triangle until forming the classic croissant shape.
  5. Whisk the egg and spread it on the top of the croissants with the help of a brush or a fork.
  6. Bake them at 180°C for 15/20 min until the top part reaches a golden colour.


Tips:

  • If you do not have an egg, you can use milk. This passage makes the croissants crispy.
