Ingredients:

  • 200 gr flour (it can be substitute with dark flour)
  • 100 ml lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • Salt
  • 1 egg
Toppings:
  • Olives

Mix the dough until reaches a non-sticky consistency. Let it sit for half an hour in the fridge. If you are preparing the salatini with a ready savoury dough, take it out from the fridge and then proceed with the next step.
  2. In the meantime you can prepare the filling. You can cut the sausages in slices of 2/3cm. You can wash and cut the cherry tomatoes in half. You can dry the tuna and he olives Image 1.
  3. When the resting time if over, roll the dough in a very thin layer (3/5 mm) Image 2.
  4. Cut square (5x5cm) pieces of dough and position the topping in the middle of these squares Image 3.
  5. Wrap the toppings in the dough and close them. Continue with this process until the dough is finished. By doing this you will get the salatini. Image 4
  6. Wisk the egg and put it on top of the salatini with a kitchen brush (or a fork). Image 5

Variants:

  • In this recipe you can set free your creativity ad taste. For the filling you can use many other different ingredients depending on what you have in the fridge. For example you can use small pieces of sweet peppers, cheese, spinach with ricotta and so on.
  • For a faster preparations and if you do not have the time to prepare the dough yourself you can buy puff pastry (the dough used to make croissants).

Tips:

  • The dough you make yourself is harder than store-bought puff pastry, but it’s healthier as it does not contain any butter.
